The biggest challenge I have faced in life is overcoming my drug addiction. Unfortunately I spent many years in prison due to bad life choices. Eventually I decided to make a change by reaching out for the help I so desperately needed. I managed to turn my life around, going to college and studying to become a qualified electrician. I haven’t secured work yet but I know that I will find a job soon!
My housing situation has been difficult recently but I know I am going to be one happy man once I have my own home. I’ll be able to concentrate more on finding a new job and moving forward with my life.
It feels overwhelming to know that people I have never met want to help me and I still find it hard to believe that there are people in the world that do this. The life I have come from nobody gave you anything for free. You had to go and get what you wanted any way that you could. Knowing that I am getting help is a great feeling, and all my hard work to change my life is paying off. I am very grateful.
I am so excited about working with Beam, because I know I won't have to live in this situation for much longer. I get really excited like a kid on Christmas eve waiting for Christmas day to open presents whenever I think about having my own home with my own front door. I have never had my own home so I'm very excited!
In two years time I want to be settled in my own home and working full time as an electrician, now that would be a dream come true indeed.
