Becoming a gas engineer is the pinnacle of training that a plumber can do. So it definitely comes with its challenges! It’s a goal I’ve been working towards for years now - researching the best possible training centre, saving as much as possible for the costs, as well as studying hard for my plumbing diplomas. With your support, I can gain these crucial final qualifications, and make my dream a reality.
I was working as a plumber before, up until 2007. But after suffering a breakdown of my mental health, I lost my job and couldn’t keep up with the charges on my mortgage. I became homeless. Things were really difficult for a while. Then my GP suggested that I go back to education and get fully qualified. This made a huge difference - it gave me a focus.
I’m a hands-on, practical person and I like using my brain to solve problems. I'm also a pretty good teacher. I hope that I'll soon be putting these skills to use again by working for a great company as a gas engineer and training the new staff. After all these years, I’m excited to get my career back on track.
Johnny has raised £2,500 to cover his travel accommodation and exam fees for his training course that is outside London. These costs are therefore not included in his campaign.
