For the past 6 years, I've been working as a dedicated security guard. Unfortunately, earlier this year, my security license expired, and the ongoing cost of living crisis has made it impossible for me to afford its renewal. As a result, I find myself currently out of work, and it has been difficult not being able to do what I love most – supporting and working with people. Being a security guard means more to me than just a job; I genuinely enjoy interacting with people and providing them with a sense of safety. Thankfully, with the support of my caseworker and Beam, I hope to raise funds for my license renewal and get back to the job I love.
Finding a new job that would allow me to raise funds for my SIA license has been challenging, mainly due to ageism in the job market. Nonetheless, I remain hopeful that I can regain stability for myself and continue serving my community until my retirement.
Apart from my work as a security guard, I have two passions in life – airplanes and trains. I've always been fascinated by planes, and I love attending airshows whenever I can. Additionally, I used to be a member of the local steam railway, but since being out of work, I haven't been able to afford the membership. I am eager to get back to my hobbies once I am back in work, as they bring me immense joy.
