One thing that keeps me going through tough times is my art. I draw and paint self-portraits. It's my way of staying well and making sure I don't let life's troubles get to me. It's hard to make a living from being an artist so I'm looking to get into work so I can start bringing some money in.
I became homeless due to a breakdown in relationship at first. I've spent time in a hostel too where I found it really challenging. I ended up leaving and sleeping rough for a while or staying at friends houses where could. I was recently supported into temporary housing by St Mungos which has given me the foundations I need to start thinking about my future plans. I've applied to housing association accommodation so if I'm successful, a job will be really important in maintaining my rent payments.
I'm quite open to the types of roles I do as I've done all sorts before! I'm passionate about helping others and have run support groups in the past after training for a therapist qualification. I've also done more practical jobs so I'd be happy with either type of position. I've never done anything quite like this before so it's quite a refreshing experience. Having a laptop to touch up my CV and a smartphone will really take my job search to another level and hopefully help me find work as soon as possible.
