I was evicted from my family home because the landlord wanted to increase the price of the rent. I could not find another place to live in my town where my two adult children live. It was very stressful looking for properties; some estate agents would not even let me view rental properties because I am on universal credit. I also have two cats and many landlords don’t allow pets which has made the search even harder.
This whole ordeal has been an emotional rollercoaster. The frustration of not being able to find somewhere to live has been difficult to manage. Facing being homeless filled me with anxiety and worry. I also suffer with a disability which means I am unable to work. This limits me financially and sometimes it can be difficult to find a purpose. My daughters keep me going, they are lovely people and I am looking forward to being closer to them so I can visit.
Before Beam, it was hard to imagine so far into the future as I was consumed with my insecurities. I can now begin to look forward and I know I will be filled with joy when I have found somewhere to live with my cats and all my belongings. I'm hoping to join some coffee mornings in my new area so I can meet new people and settle in!
