I have a really good friendship network so spending time with the people in my life, as well as my family, makes me happy.
I was homeless for quite a few years after going through a tragedy that changed everything for me. For a long time, I wasn't in a place where I wanted to get help and I slept on the streets or found shelter sofa surfing at friends houses. There came a point when things got really bad and I knew that I needed to ask for help. I called Shelter and they started to support me. Then, when the pandemic hit, I was helped into a hotel. I was assigned a support worker there too and things started to improve. I was able to get my drinking under control and I began to realise that I wanted to change my life. I'm now living in a privately rented flat and I'm really motivated to start work and continue improving my situation.
I want to do my security training to gain confidence and start a new challenge. I'm really keen to meet new people and make my network bigger too. I have previously worked in the hospitality industry, but as that isn't an option at the moment, I'm excited to explore a different sector. My dream is simple. I would like to get on my feet and be financially stable.
Up until this point, not being able to find a place to call home was the biggest challenge I've overcome. Now that I'm living in a flat, my next challenge will be finding work that sustains me to continue living here.
