I want to be independent, to be able to support myself. Completing this training will be the first step towards achieving my goal!
I moved to the UK just over three years ago, for my own safety. I was placed in accommodation in Manchester while my asylum application was being processed and then, once I was granted my status, I moved to London. It was after this move that I became homeless. But I received shelter with Church Army at the beginning of last year - and from this point, my life has really started to improve.
The thought of working in an office has always inspired me because it’s a busy environment, and there are so many chances to learn! So it's become my dream to work in an office as a personal assistant and my boss, in the childcare job that I am working in at the moment, has encouraged me to do further education to reach it. He's given me hope that I will find a great job once I've completed my personal assistant course. And having more knowledge around communication and computer systems will give me more confidence too.
In a couple of years, I see myself in a full time job as a personal assistant. I'll be able to look after myself without any financial support from anyone else. My dreams will have come true.
