Hello, I'm Les. I've always found joy in the simple pleasures of life - cooking, reading books about history, listening to music, and if I'm lucky, spending a bit of time by the sea. However, life took a turn for me when I faced a relationship breakdown that led to homelessness. I was already struggling with my mental health and homelessness made this even hard. I was unable to access support for around 9 months despite reaching out many times.
But every cloud has a silver lining, and mine was being referred to Beam. The goal I want to achieve with Beam is to find a stable home. I've spent too much time sofa surfing and staying with family on and off, and it's been hard dealing with the embarrassment of relying on others for help. I'm a pensioner with ill health, and the instability in my old age has been difficult to bear. I've worked all my life and I believe I deserve a peaceful and independent life in my remaining years.
The support Beam has offered me has been nothing short of amazing. My caseworker, Joseph, has been patient, understanding, and kind. For the first time in a year, I felt like I was being treated as a human being. I'm excited and grateful for any support I might receive through my Beam donations page. It will help me get my life back on track and enjoy my independence in my remaining years.
