My kids and my family are my happiness. They make me strong everyday and are one of my main motivations to push forward in life. My other motivation is to show people that despite their history, they can still reach their dreams.
I first become homeless when I ran away from my bosses. I moved to Dubai to be a domestic worker but when I arrived my employers quickly turned abusive. I wasn't paid a salary, was given very little food to eat and was expected to be on call 24 hours a day with no days off. They withheld my documents and didn't let me leave the house. I experienced what I now know is called modern day slavery.
My employers brought me to the UK with them and when we arrived I decide to run away. I ended up sleeping on the street and in parks for a few days with nothing. I asked some people for help and one lady was kind enough to extend some. I stayed with her for a while and then moved around to different people. I eventually got the help I needed and was moved to a safe house for people who have been trafficked. Being homeless is not easy. It's incredibly stressful and scary, especially in a country that you're unfamiliar with. I had to keep the faith that I'd survive, have patience in knowing my situation would improve and pray always.
I want to do this course because I think it's fulfilling to help people feel good about themselves. I want to be a part of a team that builds a relaxing environment for people to come and forget about their worries. I'm so excited to learn new skills and build a career in a great industry. I love spending time with my family and making sure they're happy. Two of my children still live in my home country though. Getting this qualification will mean that I can start earning a salary that will allow me to bring them over and be a full family again. When I was young, various issues meant that I didn't live with my immediate family. I would love for my children to have that chance, and you're helping me to give that to them.
