The cost of living crisis has hit me hard, and I'm struggling to make ends meet, especially as I am due to retire very soon. To make matters worse, my laptop, which is almost 20 years old, is on the verge of giving up, but I simply can't afford to buy a new one, which makes it more difficult to apply for jobs.
It's disheartening because I've spent over 40 years working in a warehouse, but my feet problems now prevent me from continuing in that line of work. I can't walk for long periods of time anymore, so I'm seeking a job where I can comfortably sit, such as driving, as I have held a full, clean driving license for over 30 years. However, ageism has become a significant barrier, making it difficult to secure employment opportunities, especially as I'm due to retire.
Nonetheless, I haven't given up hope. I'm determined to find a job that suits my physical limitations and allows me to contribute with the skills and experience I've gained over the years. Despite the challenges, I remain resilient and optimistic, knowing that there is still potential for me to make a meaningful impact in the workforce before retiring.
