I’ve got five children, including my foster son. Pretty much everything we own is being stored in a storage unit that I have to pay £300 a month for. I moved into temporary accommodation a year ago with only ten items of clothing. My son only has a handful of toys. It makes you feel like you don't belong anywhere. The storage unit has got all of mine, my husband’s, my children's and my grandchildren’s clothes, toys and all of our furniture. We’ve got nowhere else to store it as our house just isn’t big enough.
My dream is to support my family and to have a forever home for us all. I want us to have a permanent home, and I want to see my son being able to know that this will be his forever home. He's only nine years old, but he's had to move houses and move schools so many times. I’d love to see him settled and see him decorate his own bedroom how he wants. Family is really important to me, especially after losing a child, I just want the best for us all.
This is my first time out of work. It’s a really unsettling feeling, but I’m so determined to get back into work and be financially stable so I can afford all the basic items and hopefully more. I’m looking for work in hospitality because I love working with people and I’ve got experience in customer-facing roles. Thank you so much for your support.
