Hi everyone! I came from Ukraine last year when the war started and spent my first year here with my host in her house in North London. When she asked me to vacate the room I faced the huge challenge of finding new accommodation. Due to the high demand for rental properties, private landlords and estate agencies didn't even want to invite me for viewings. It’s been made even more difficult because of my age and being a pensioner. I became homeless after looking for a property for 4 months without success.
My biggest challenge was contacting various landlords as English is not my first language. I could not go on this journey without the support of Beam and I am also grateful to my son who always reassured me and helped to communicate with various people through the whole house hunting process. I am very happy to launch my page so other people like me in difficult situations can see that anything is possible with the right support.
When I move into a new home, it will feel like a new beginning and I will have a brighter future to look forward to. I will also be more independent and I am excited to explore the new area and meet new people. I would like to continue to live safely in the UK, learn English, and be more independent and active. I also sincerely wish for peace in Ukraine so I would be able to travel to Ukraine again!
