This year has been difficult, the pandemic changed a lot for me. I experienced domestic violence and after a series of abuse, I was locked out of my family home. I spent weeks sleeping at churches and in train stations until I was helped into accommodation through Greenwich Council.
I’ve always enjoyed working hard but in the most recent years, I’ve struggled to keep up with the long hours due to my health conditions. That hasn’t stopped me from wanting to work, I just want to find a role more suitable to my needs so I can continue to build a life for myself.
Life as I know it has completely changed. It’s really challenging to adjust, I’m used to traveling, saving, and shopping but that’s all stopped. For now, I’m focused on taking care of myself and providing what I can to my child. Once I’m in permanent work, I look forward to starting to save again so I can spend more time and money on the things I love.
For a long time I’ve wanted to work as a railway engineer. I’ve already completed my initial competence training, but I’ll need to get the full qualification so I can work on the tracks. I like working with my hands and knowing that my work will help benefit others during their day to day.
