My greatest challenge has been timing and having to start again from nothing after leaving the refuge I stayed at to escape domestic abuse. Time is something I haven't been afforded as I have been required to move at such short notice on multiple occasions.
The last move I had was from a refugee to temporary accommodation. I had little to no resources, and being relocated outside of London meant I had to travel up to 4 hours per day and pay exorbitant amounts to show up to my study and work training commitments.
It's very empowering to know that I can get resources to help with moving costs and buy the necessities needed for my new home. My life has been put on pause in some ways, but having my own place has given me a push towards feeling physically settled. I now feel able to achieve my future goals, which are to serve the needs of my community and enjoy my home.
