Everything happens for a reason and one thing that I've learnt about living on the streets is that you shouldn't give up, even if it seems like the easy option! I keep myself strong by doing this, by looking ahead at the future and thinking about how I'm going to accomplish my dreams and live my life without fear.
I became homeless at the beginning of this year due to a fallout with my family, which resulted in my entering a deep depression and, eventually, leaving home. Now I'm staying in a hostel where I can stay for up to two years, but they've told me that because of my current progress they may be able to help me to move on to my own place in the next few months! They’re able to start that process when I start working, so I'm really keen to get a job as soon as possible!
When I moved into the hostel, that’s when the lockdown began. That meant that it was really hard to see people. No-one could visit me and I couldn't really visit them. I’ve felt very isolated, as I don’t really know this area. To have a routine, to earn money and be able to buy the food I want to buy - these are some of the benefits I’ll get by getting a job.
This campaign is helping me to get into work so I can achieve my independence. Getting into a role as a warehouse operative will mean I'm able to buy all my essential things. Overtime my aim is to build myself up and get back into education, where I want to study fashion. I know I have the potential to do great things, but I've got to start where I am for now and make sure I become the best version of myself.
