I'm incredibly passionate about working with children and young people. I'm originally from Spain. When I lived there, my dream job was organising events. When I moved to the UK, I became pregnant with my first child and I didn't have any connections in the hospitality sector. That's when I started Nannying and I loved it so much that I started my level 2 childcare qualification. When my second child was one and a half years old, I joined an agency and started working in different private nurseries. Now that I look back at my life and career, I realise that I've always been balancing working and looking after my children.
I've recently started a degree in Child Psychology. My ultimate dream would be to work in children's centres organising events for children with disabilities. I believe that would combine my passion for events and children. I've always been a caring person. I love listening to people tell me their problems and I try and give them advice. I like encouraging people and I am quite energetic which is why I've always been good with little ones. I feel like I have an affinity with children. When I see little ones on the street in their little buggy, I always try and smile and play with them. Outside of my passion for kids, I like being active, I love interacting with people and moving about, I also love dancing and listening to different types of music.
I've been working in childcare roles through agencies for years but they are often quite exploitative and they take most of my income. Even though I've always worked hard, I haven't been able to sustain work within childcare that can take care of my expenses. I am currently facing eviction and I am experiencing a lot of financial difficulty which is really hard when you're a parent and have two little ones dependent on you.
I know that I need help getting back on my feet again and it makes me feel happy that people are interested in what my goals are and are willing to help me get where I need to be. I would never have thought that people would be so open to supporting me to achieve my goals, it's so amazing. I honestly never even knew this type of support was an option for someone like me until my support worker told me about it.
