What makes me happy is being involved in sport and being active. I enjoy exercising, learning how to play cricket and going to watch football again. My other passion is engineering. A big goal of mine is to finish my engineering degree. I've always been fascinated with engineering since I was a kid. I got a little taste of it when working at my previous job testing prosthetic legs. I like the idea of creating something functional for humanity.
My homeless situation came about through financial difficulty. It was a huge shock to the system when I lost my job and moved into a homeless shelter. It was also not the most pleasant environment. During that time, I felt like I let down my parents like I was a failure in their eyes.
My biggest obstacle in life is dealing with my prosthetic leg. The disability has been an enormous drain mentally. There have been times when I didn't want to get out of bed for long periods of time. My mental health is really intertwined with my physical disability, and I always have to make sure I have the right mindset to keep going every morning.
I'm excited by the prospect of moving out of the homeless shelter into my new home. It's a great feeling that I'm getting help to achieve my dreams of living a normal life.
