My goal for the future is quite simple, I would like to have a "regular" life. The simple things make me happy: going to work, being able to afford life's expenses and doing something for myself. Helping others is also dear to my heart, if no one else is happy around you, it almost seems pointless. That's why it's really important that once I'm in a better place, I can give back and help other homeless people.
I grew up in Bangladesh and had a tough childhood. I came to the UK in 2011 and was made homeless after COVID. So, it's fair to say life wasn't the easiest for me at the time. But, now life is looking up. I was recently supported into stable housing and now all that's left is for me to find a job - which is where Beam come in.
Finding work will be the final step in moving on from the last few years. I recently acquired my CSCS card which qualifies me to work in construction. I love speaking to people, so I think construction will be the perfect role as I'll spend a lot of time with other craftsmen. I also love helping others - so being involved in the process of building homes and buildings is important to me. I never want anyone to have to experience what I've been through and this career hopefully means that I can be a part in that change.
