I want to start by saying that right now, things are looking up. I currently have a roof over my head, I'm getting help to find a job, and I'm able to access support to help improve my mental wellbeing. These big changes have only recently come about. Until about 3 months ago, I was homeless and sleeping rough. Before that, I was sofa surfing.
I've been homeless since I was 16 after a family dispute. I'm now 19 and thankfully a church referred me to a form of temporary accommodation and helped me to access Universal Credit. I've now been referred to Beam in the hope that their support, and yours, can help me into stable employment. As you can imagine, searching for work is not easy when you're homeless, struggling with mental health, have only a phone, and on top of all that, I'm dyslexic, so I often find it hard to deal with long forms!
Despite my complicated family relations, I was always really close with my granddad. When he passed, it was a real blow to me. He was a security guard, and I want to follow in his footsteps.
I feel I could be a fantastic security guard, and honestly it's my dream. With your support, I'll be able to complete the training needed and get the essential resources I need in order to find a security job. I want to let you all know how committed I am to working hard and building myself up out of my current situation. I'm not afraid to put the graft in, and if you give me a chance, I won't let you down!
