Something that motivates me? Seeing how far I have come! It gives me hope that I can continue to better myself. I'm inspired by the people from my hostel that have moved on to new things. You see someone at their lowest point in life. Then you see how they change their lives for the better. It really gives me hope. I know this period is not forever.
I became homeless nearly five years ago. I was the victim of a sexual assault which turned my life upside down. After the incident I was harassed by people in the neighbourhood. I had to leave my home and go into a refuge. The assault left me with mental health struggles. It can be hard to do things on my own. I've been staying in different hostels ever since.
Now I am turning things around. Recently I've had more courage to pursue my dreams and challenge myself. I took some courses - everything from business admin to DJ training. I've started working in HR with the NHS and doing this course will help me advance my career. The aim is a better paid job, stable mental health, and a flat of my own. There's one more thing I'd love to do with the extra money - save up for some DJ equipment.
