Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am the proud mother of 5 wonderful children. What makes me happiest in life is having my children and family around. Every moment with my family is precious. Beyond this, I also love pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I love meeting new people, learning new skills and ideas, travelling, volunteering and listening to music!
I have had to overcome many challenges. My relationship with my partner broke down at the same time my 15-month son was diagnosed with kidney failure. My life became difficult very fast. Having to look after 5 children with one being a hospitalised child was hard. Becoming a parent carer and a home maker overnight was tough. My sick son's hospital became my second home for four years. The day my son passed away, I felt like my life was finished. I put so much effort into keeping him alive but sadly he was to have a short life. Learning to live without him was the hardest experience I've ever had to face.
Alongside this, I have been living in temporary accommodation since 2008. It is very expensive, especially when you are on a low income. It’s very hard to find a job that can pay for it and cover all the living expenses.
My dream is to become a bus/PCV driver. I have always had a great admiration for the drivers who used to pick my son and I up and take us to and from the hospital when we went for dialysis treatment every week, as well as any delivery drivers who dropped off boxes of treatments at home. They have always been so supportive, calm and polite.
I hope to one day be one of them and provide kindness and support to the people I am helping. My hope for the future is to have reached some stability and to have some more friends to talk to. Thank you for giving me and my family this chance!
