I've previously worked in TV and film as a costume designer, and I have a degree in Graphic Design. I've been freelancing up until the start of this year, but I'm keen for a different type of job for now for some regular income.
Normally every few months I would have a job, but this year's been a little bit different. Earlier this year there was some issues with my family, and I became homeless so was living between my friend's homes and various hotels for months. Coupled with lockdown, it affected my mental health and sometimes I found that I would forget to look after myself properly.
A few weeks ago though I sorted out my housing situation and have been placed in social housing, and things have been so much better. I've been sleeping so well, and I've began reconnecting with my family again. This is all a bit of a new chapter in my life which can be scary, but part of me is excited and what's in store.
The next step is to find a permanent job in retail or hospitality, and save some money. Then my longer term plan is to find a new place to live, get a driving licence, and have a bit of independence. With a car, I can take on bigger costume design roles too and get back into that industry.
