Spending time with my kids makes me happy. They always want to do different activities and when I see them, I make sure that we do the things that bring them joy. We spend time watching movies, playing games and going to the park. I have the best time when I am with them.
I moved to the UK from Eritrea in 2011 and was granted refugee status. The journey to the UK was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, and when I arrived I did everything I could get in to a comfortable situation and start earning money. I was working as a courier on my moped, living with a friend and had dreams of becoming a Taxi driver or a Lorry driver.
When the pandemic started I lost my job. Shortly after that, I had to leave my friends flat as it was overcrowded and I couldn't have my kids come and stay there. The day I became homeless, I was sat on my own on the streets with all my things, and was approached by someone at the council who arranged for me to move into a room at a hotel.
In the future I would like to have my own place that has enough space for my kids to come and stay. I am looking forward to training to become a Lorry driver, and being able to support myself doing the thing that I love, which is to drive.
