I've overcome a lot in my lifetime, and I feel proud that I have been through so much while keeping my head straight. Being in the sunshine, doing exercise, cooking and reading a good book can help a lot.
Ever since my divorce, I have found it hard to get back on my feet. I started to rebuild my life with a new partner, but not long into our relationship we received a lot of tragic news. My partner was diagnosed with cancer, her nephew was killed, and my father passed away. There was so much to process and deal with, which took a huge toll on our relationship. We broke up and I had no where to live, so started sofa surfing with friends. It was meant to be temporary but I've been doing this for 2 years now, and I am finding it really hard.
Before my licence expired, I had been a lorry driver for 15 years. I loved having my own space, seeing different parts of the country and I was very good at my job. Without an income or a stable place to live I haven't been able to save up the money to get my licence back. I was absolutely amazed when I heard about Beam and how they could help me raise the money.
I see this as a chance to get my life in order, to regain my independence and self esteem, and to find a place to call home. I am so grateful and appreciative that there are people out there who will help me achieve my dream.
