I had all the support from my parents while growing up and they never let me down. I want to do the same for my kids and support them as best as I can. That's why I want to get into work as a private hire driver as quickly as I can!
A few years back, I lost my job in IT and have been struggling since then to find another one. When my landlord wanted the flat that I was renting back, I ended up in temporary accommodation. It was just too hard and expensive to find a new place to stay on my own. That was a difficult time. I had to move to an area that I did not know, and the housing environment was unpleasant and not safe. The council eventually helped me to move into more stable accommodation.
Now that my housing is sorted, I'm keen to start work - if I could, I'd start today. I was a private hire driver back when I was at uni and would drive on the weekends. I really enjoyed it. I didn't have to stick to a strict schedule and could fit it around my studies. The earnings were also good. For all the same reasons, I feel this is the right job choice for me for now.
I am excited about taking care of my customers' safety and well-being and thinking on my feet to resolve any matters of concern. I get joy from going the extra mile in any job. At the same time, the flexibility of a driving job will allow me to pursue some of my other interests like refreshing some of my tech knowledge and learning new IT skills in my own time.
Going forward, I see myself in full-time work - with more confidence and working with people again. The first thing I want to do is take my children out for a good family meal again!
