I've worked in construction on and off for a while and it's something I love to do. However, since the Covid-19 pandemic began, it's been really hard for me to find work. I'm used to working and I've rarely been without work since finishing school so it's hard to go through a period of time like this.
I became homeless when I lost my job and couldn't keep up with rent. For a while I had to sleep on the streets and then I settled under a bridge for a few months so that I was partly protected against the weather. I was eventually helped into temporary accommodation when the pandemic started. Since having a roof over my head, I have tried my best to find bits of work here and there but finding something permanent has been a real challenge.
Getting a job is important to me as I'll be able to move out and get a flat of my own. Ultimately, I'd like to be in a position where I can buy Christmas gifts for my mum, sister and those around me who have been supportive. My dream is to eventually work on a construction site as a Manager of Site Safety. I'm looking forward to building my knowledge and meeting that goal.
