I enjoy warehouse work. I like the logistics involved in it. I've always been an organised person, which is why I think it suits me. In life, if you are not organised, things will not go well.
I never planned to be homeless, but one day, circumstances beyond my control led me there. I’m a hard and committed worker, but these things can still happen to hard workers. I’ve slept on the streets and lived between hostels, and I learnt that that I had to change the way I reacted to difficult situations. I had to remain calm.
Things started to improve when I began to see more positive things around me. I was able to get support from Greenwich Council, first into temporary accommodation and then, just a week ago, into a flat I can live in. Now I have stability and can grow from it.
The next step for me is to earn something so I can pay for myself and my belongings. I’ll start as a warehouse operative, but in time I want to be a supervisor or a team leader. From a young age I have been a leader. When I was 18 I led prayers in different communities in Ghana. Now I would like to be a leader in my work. As a leader, I’ll be in a position where I can be of more help to others, particularly those who have passed through my situation.
