Shahana's story
My son is very young and I want to be able to provide for him and make sure he has a good future! I am a domestic abuse survivor and I’m currently living in a women’s refuge. My son and I have been here for a long time - it’s been two and a half years. I've applied for council housing, but I’ve been told I need to work first before they can support me with housing. I have experience supporting disabled children, and I’d like to find work as a carer because I really love helping people and want to continue in this career path.
I enjoy taking the time to do self-care. I enjoy having baths and treating myself - even putting on make up feels like a nice treat! Thank you for taking the time to support my son and me.
