Part of my name means to achieve glory and I hope to live up to every bit of it. I’ve always loved driving and travelling. Seeing new things and meeting new people opens up doors and you get to have great conversations with the people you meet. I'm excited to get my taxi license because I can't wait to be on the move, driving people, making my own living and doing this on my own schedule.
I became homeless after many arguments with my family. I was sharing a room with my sibling and as an adult, the place was just too small for us. I was sleeping in my car for a few months and it wasn't smooth sailing. One day, someone got shot right next to my car whilst I was in it and I realised things had to change. I called St Mungo's and told them I wanted help.
Since then, I've been in more stable accommodation and I've thought a lot about what I wanted to do. I’ve always liked the idea of working for myself in a flexible role. I have a lot of interests - music, fashion... and I want time on the side to work on that. Driving with Uber is the ideal job for me because it fulfils everything I want perfectly.
I want to do this for myself, my kids and my family. I have five little girls and being a driver also gives me the flexibility to spend time with them. Life is going by at a fast pace and I want to be there for them, not just in terms of providing but also in terms of time. Seeing them smile will make me smile. I hope to leave a strong foundation and legacy for my family!
