This year has been really difficult, I've been unemployed since the end of January. It's the first time I've really been unemployed and I just want to get back into work. Back in January, I was mugged and my rent money was stolen. I had to spend some time in the hospital after the mugging and then found out my landlord had kicked me out so I was made homeless. It was honestly devastating and I didn't know where to turn to for support.
I was a gas fitter by trade for years and really enjoyed it but my qualification expired during COVID. I've got to an age where I just to focus on being happy at work and finding a stable job. My main focus is building a life for myself, and hopefully having colleagues I get on with.
Besides work, I am a real outdoor person and love walking. When I was a lot younger I used to do motorsport racing. I was the person who was the passenger in the sidecar. I was pretty good and even got to go to international meetings. When I'm settled I'd like to have the time to go watch races again. It would be nice to be able to watch the new racers come through.
I am so pleased to have found this support and so grateful for all those who put me in touch with Beam. It feels unreal, when I was at rock bottom, I didn't know where to turn to. Once I found support and realised there are people out there who care and want to help me it was a weight off my mind.
