The Covid pandemic was a difficult time for many people, me and my family included. Before Covid, I had a stable job and things were going well but as time went on things started changing for the worse. Looking back now everything happened in steps that I didn’t see coming but eventually, it really impacted my life.
I can still remember the day when I was told that I was being made redundant and the fear that washed over me is something I still think about. Due to being unable to pay my rent, my landlord gave me an eviction notice and even though I tried to plead with him asking him to wait until my housing benefit claim went through, it didn't work out. We ended up homeless for a few months until the council was able to get us temporary accommodation.
Not only this, but soon after being made redundant, I found I was expecting a child. It was of course challenge but more than this, it was a blessing and the little bit of sunshine that I needed in such difficult times. My daughter is now 18 months old and I’m now in the position where I want to get back into work, but I lack the tools and the support to get me back into employment.
I am hopeful that with your support and the help of Beam I will be able to go back to work. I'm hoping to start a new role within the hospitality industry as I really enjoy speaking to people and I have transferable skills which will really benefit me.
I would like to thank you in advance for all your support and for taking the time to read my story.
