I had been living with my Mum and sister since I was born, but in 2022 things got too much and I was asked to leave my family home. I was drinking, and smoking a lot of cannabis and it was having a big affect on my mental health. I was unemployed so I would have nothing to do, and would wake up and smoke cannabis - it was no way to live.
I felt very low during this time, but I've since attacked the issue head on and stopped smoking cannabis. One of the main things I did was try to forge a new routine for myself. To avoid the number of hours in the day becoming too overwhelming, I get up early and segment the day into manageable chunks. It's had a really positive affect on my mental health and I'm feeling so much more motivated.
I've been sofa surfing with family and friends since November so I would like to get some independence and rent privately. It can be really hard to not have a base, and be moving around all the time, but I'm confident I have a plan in place.
I've just started a course to get my green CSCS card to work in construction and I'd love to become an electrician one day. My plan is to find a job as soon as possible to earn some income, then I can study part-time in the evenings or weekends until I can start to build on my career and next steps.
