Tony's campaign has fully funded! 🎉 A Beam employee is now supporting him on his journey through training and into work as an electrician.

But other Beam members need your help. Support the greatest number of homeless people to train up and get into work by giving monthly.

Tony at work

Hi there,

Got some BIG news for you! As you might know, I passed my electrician training that was funded on Beam. I'm so proud to write now that I'm in work! I'm in a team doing the wiring on a new block of flats. It's really exciting to work on a big project and I'm learning loads. For the first time in decades, I have a structure in my life. And it feels great!

I remember when I heard about Beam for the first time - I thought it sounded too good to be true!! I never thought anyone would fund my campaign let alone 135 people! I'd like to thank each and every one of you again. You changed my life.

I am now moving away from benefits and will be putting aside a bit each month to one day fulfil my dream to have a home I can call my own. I'm also going to donate myself to Beam’s members each month and am excited to hear how they get on. IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN THEY!

If you haven't supported a Beam members, please consider it. There are so many people out there who have been through tough times with homelessness and other problems. They also deserve the chance to make the most of themselves.

For me now it's about staying focused. I never answer my phone in work hours, ask questions about anything I don't understand and each weekend, it's about some relaxation with friends and my boy but mostly recharging for the week ahead so I can stay sparky :)

I've enjoyed getting each message of support and comment so keep them coming but more than anything please help others.

Blessings, Tony

Me with my Level 3 certificate!

Getting my certificate for level 3 means so much to me. I'm so proud of myself it has given me a sense of achievement & purpose in life. Also given me my self worth back, been good for my self esteem and also given me confidence.

I would like to express my gratitude to all that have supported me, I would never of been able to achieve this qualification without you guys. Thank you so much.

So far with this qualification I have been able to do some voluntary work. Also in the near future I'm hoping to be in paid employment, and a secure accomadation. I will continue to keep you all updated guys with my progress. Once again thank you so much all of you.

God bless you and yours,

Outside the Beam office in the snow and still smiling 😀

Thanks to the generosity of my supporters, I'm almost at the end of my training to keep the lights of London on! I just have one assignment to hand in and then I've finished the course.

I've not only enjoyed it, I've loved it! So excited for the future of getting full-time employment and also sorting out some permanent accommodation which has only been possible because of you, the supporters of my campaign.

Thank you again, Tony

It was nice meeting James Bowen having read about his story. It was good to see what it was like for him before and how amazing his life is now. It was inspiring - and so was Bob! We talked about homelessness and Christmas which we are both familiar with.

Tony at Beam HQ!

Hello and thank you all for your enormous amount of support.

I just wanted to update you on my progress which is going really well. The last couple of weeks, I've been ridden with anxiety because I had a few exams coming up and I was really nervous about taking them. However, I've now passed the first 4 exams I've taken (first time!) and I'm really pleased and relieved that I'm half way through. Actually, more than half-way because are 7 exams in total 😀

I'm looking forward to passing the next 3 exams and God willing I will.

Thank you ever so much for helping me to achieve this goal of mine which will help me get a better quality of life and also help towards my accommodation. My plan for this year is to get a job in electrics and work towards building a portfolio for my NVQ which will then make me fully-qualified as an electrician.

This will help me move towards a more permanent accommodation. I can't wait to lay down some roots and have a home of my own for the first time in a decade.

I look forward to letting you know about the next chapter of this journey of mine, Tony
