Tracy's campaign has fully funded! 🎉 A Beam employee is now supporting her on her journey through training and into work as a care worker.
But other Beam members need your help. Support the greatest number of homeless people to train up and get into work by giving monthly.
Well I am now enrolled in my online substance misuse NVQ and am really enjoying it. At first it was a bit overwhelming as I am not that confident around learning new models of work and being able to upload work. But after a few weeks with some logging on problems with my course I talked to my tutor and feel so much better than I did. I am really enjoying it now and I can't wait to gain this qualification and see what job's are available for me.
I have also passed my probation at work and am really involved in certain groups - I run a women's group with another colleague and I am also involved in planning a world mental health day for my organisation. I'm so excited and can't wait for the event to take place. I was also very excited to attend Beam's 1st birthday party this week and see people who have been helped the same way I have. I never thought I would have been able to do everything that I'm doing and especially at 48 years of age.
My confidence has grown so much so thank you to all who supported me and support Beam it makes such a difference 😍
So excited to receive an email from university today with all of the info regarding my NVQ I'm about to start next Monday. I still can't believe I've been given this opportunity - I sometimes have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. I love the job I am in now but I'm only a recovery assistant. When I pass this NVQ I will be qualified to apply for higher positions and posts. 💪
My job now has already taught me so much and everyday I learn something new. On Wednesday I got confirmed in post so am really happy with that. My colleagues still ask me why I come to work everyday with a big smile on my face and it's always the same answer. I love my job and love helping my clients! 😊
Only last week one of my clients said 'You've been my best worker, you've helped me so much just knowing I can call or text you if I need any help with anything'.
I want to say a massive thank you to all my supporters and also to my clients who give me a reason to smile. With your help I can go onto do more exciting things. Now I can see actually see my goal in sight and that's all down to you who donated to my campaign.
I'm really looking forward to starting my course next month. I can't believe it's finally here. Not sure if my brain is ready but I love a challenge and I've overcome a lot of challenges to get where I am today. 💪
So keep watching my updates as there will be exciting news to come.
Thank you for your support!
I wanted to let my supporters know that I passed my 6 month probation at work. I'm just waiting to sign on the dotted line of my contract now.
As for my course - I start in August and I am so excited! I can't believe I have had this chance. I feel so lucky and that's down to all of you guys so thank you.
I've been asked to apply for the client advisory board for St Mungo's!🎉
🏡 It's only voluntary, but I think it's an amazing opportunity and I will learn so many different and new things.
I had some lovely feedback from one of my clients Mum's today, stating that I go above and beyond to help her son and that she had never heard her son talk so highly before about anyone. She said knowing that I am there to support him makes her able to sleep easier at night. That text message made my day. It's things like that that make it all worth while to get some more training and achieve so much more so I can help others. 🤝
It's very exciting knowing that with Beam I can get help when I need it. I don't feel alone.
I've also booked some annual leave (the first one in about 3 years!) to go and visit my father in the Forest of Dean. I'm so excited. It's been a long time coming and I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas day to arrive! 🌲
I am well happy! It seems like it has taken a while for this to happen. Any donation means so much to me. It's not about the amount. It's the thought. Now it's started funding, it's another step closer. I have more to give on my journey. If I can raise this money and get another qualification under my belt it opens many doors. I get so much enjoyment from helping others.

Too often homeless people are forced to lie out of sheer desperation. We think it's better when relationships are built on trust and honesty. Beam verifies each member in 4 ways:
1. Referral: every member of Beam is referred by a registered homelessness charity or local authority.
2. Interviews: before their campaign launches, each member is interviewed twice by a Beam Member Manager.
3. References: we take references on each member from the charity who refers them and someone in a position of responsibility.
4. Profile: we take great care to verify information in a member's story is true.
It's your money.
We work hard to ensure that you can give confidently.
A caseworker or "Member Manager" is an employee of Beam who helps those referred to Beam to plan a crowdfunding campaign and supports them through training and into work.
All Member Managers are trained professionals who specialise in supporting vulnerable adults by focusing on their strengths and abilities.
