My son and I came to the UK through a Ukrainian sponsorship visa at the end of April last year. When the war started in our country, we hoped that it would finish soon but with every day there were more explosions, bombings and shootings. Things became so much worse and harder.
My life changed because of the war. I lost my home, my usual life, and my parents still live in the war zone which makes me worried about them. My friends are in different countries and I am here alone with my son. My dream is to give him a good and peaceful life. He loves his school very much and has friends there.
Unfortunately, finding a job has not been easy. As I speak English, Ukrainian and Russian, I decided to try and help people with translation and registered with some translation agencies. I am doing what I can but it’s only a part-time job and it's not enough to live on.
My dream is to become a chartered accountant and have a career in finance. I have an Economics degree from Ukraine, but to use my degree here I need further training. Not having the funds to pay for childcare is preventing me from being able to start training or having the time to work enough hours to support my son, myself and my parents. I am so grateful for you support.
