I am a former surgeon and teacher from Ukraine, and I recently arrived in the UK with my wife and 7-year-old daughter due to the war in my home country. My biggest challenge right now is improving my English, especially for the OET exam, which is crucial for me to pursue my dream of practising medicine again in the UK. Despite the challenges, I am determined to pass the OET, followed by the PLAB 1 and PLAB 2 exams, to regain my surgeon's licence.
To afford these exams and get back to practising, I need support in finding a stable job while I continue studying and improving my English. My goal is to secure a Practitioner or healthcare role that does not require a medical licence so I can save for the exams and one day return to surgery.
Looking ahead, my goal is to finally pass all my exams, regain my licence, and work for the NHS, helping people and saving lives as I have been doing for so many years in Ukraine. Also seeing my family thrive and feel secure here knowing our existence is not under threat anymore would mean the world to me. We feel blessed to meet so many kind people in this country who are able and willing to help us achieve this. We feel safe and welcome here, thank you for supporting us.
