Last year, I was living in a shared flat when I found out that I was pregnant with my first child. Unfortunately, I soon discovered that I would be a single mother, and so began my search for suitable accommodation. However, I quickly realised how expensive the housing market had become, and despite having a job as a Civil Servant, I couldn't afford the accommodation I needed for myself and my new baby.
I contacted the council and was added to the waiting list, which was incredibly long due to the current economic climate in the country. I had no savings towards a deposit and rent due to my circumstances changing so quickly.
It's amazing to know that I can get help from people I don't know personally but who care about my wellbeing. I'm excited to start a new life with my little one in our new home. Moving into a new home will feel amazing and exciting as it provides a much-needed fresh start for myself and will boost my confidence as a new mother providing the best care in a good environment for my baby.
In the next two years, my goal is to be fully settled in my role as a mother in my new home, and hopefully, I will have started my clothes customizing business and progressed to a higher-paid role in the civil service. I am grateful for the support I have received and for the opportunity to start afresh with my little one.
