I had lived in Yemen all my life, but due to the fighting and unrest it was not a good situation at all, and I had to leave. I came to the UK two years ago on my own without my family, and so for the last 18 months I have tried to get settled and stay busy.
I have been going to college to learn English as often as I can, and to start a new life for my family. Since being in the UK, everything is a lot better for me and the people here are nice and kind. I am very grateful to be supported by the council with my housing, but it has not been very stable and I have been moved around every few months.
I was so glad when my wife and 6 children finally joined me in England two months ago. It's been amazing to all be together again, and now they are all getting settled with their schools and the GP, I am keen to get started with my career again. I used to sell car parts back home in Yemen, but I would like some help getting an SIA Licence now and working in security. I would like to be able to support my family, so I really appreciate the support.
