Earlier this year I was living with my partner and our two daughters, but things with him became very difficult and I was forced to leave. Starting a new life is one of the hardest things I've had to do. In September I managed to move into temporary accommodation with my kids, but it's been so difficult. The kids are confused by all the changes and why we're living in a tiny room with no TV.
I was working as a care assistant but the hours were tricky and I couldn't fit them around the kid's school times. I've just applied for benefits for the first time and I'm totally overwhelmed. There's so much to get your head around. The council are helping to pay for my accommodation, but I need to pay the service charge and I don't have the money yet. So that's another thing I'm stressed about.
I'm hoping that Beam and your support will help me whilst I try to get my life back on track. I'm waiting for a bidding number so I can hopefully get a council property, so that's a first step. The next step is to get a job so I can get some money in and pay my bills.
I like the idea of working with other people so I'm hoping to get something in customer service or hospitality. I'm honestly so grateful for all the support, no one should ever have to go through this. I'd love to spend my first paycheque on my daughters and buy them something lovely for Christmas.
