When I get into work I am looking forward to taking my son out for a nice dinner. I am also excited to actually start working and meeting new people. I just want to be successful and have a good job which also has a positive impact on people's lives.
I first became homeless when I left an abusive relationship. I didn't have the correct documents at the time so there were points when I just had to stay out on the street because I couldn't find anywhere to stay. Since then, I have got my documents and the council have been able to provide us with temporary accommodation whilst we look for somewhere more permanent. They have sorted everything and I am very grateful. The pandemic has been tough on us, but thank God for my son. I don't think I would have survived without his laughter.
Now I want to stand up and do something for myself. I want to provide for my son and have a good life. I want to work as a support worker because I know not everyone is the same and each person faces their own challenges. I want to show them that living is worth it and give them the encouragement to achieve whatever they want to so they can be happy.
