One day in the future I'd love to be established in the film and cinema industry. It's what I'm most passionate about and I'm happiest when I'm in that creative world. Being involved in documentaries would be a dream come true.
I fell into issues with my housing after my mum fell behind with rent and we were evicted from our old place. She was placed in temporary accommodation but due to my age, I wasn't considered to be placed with her. I started to sofa surf with friends but have never had an income stable enough to put down a deposit on a rented place, or pay the first months's rent upfront like most landlords require.
One of the biggest challenges I've faced was finishing off my studies whilst having to deal with my housing issues. I'm really studious and when I'm given a project, I like to give it my all. Having to focus on such a basic but essential need like my housing, meant that I couldn't show up like I wanted to my course. I got through it in the end though and I'm proud of how far I've come.
Now I want to put my efforts and all the stamina I've built up when times have got rough into finding a job and somewhere to live. I'm looking at support worker roles but I'm open to working in a warehouse too. I think both environments would be really interesting and those jobs are in demand right now!
Most importantly, getting into work will allow me to sustain my rent payments on my future flat. It's the first step towards financial freedom and independent living for me so I'm excited to start this new chapter.
