We have been looking for permanent accommodation for quite some time now. We have always been unsuccessful as we don’t have a guarantor which is often required. When my previous landlord kicked me out of my property after 10 years I was left feeling hopeless and scared. I didn’t know where my son and I would sleep. I live with a health condition called sarcoidosis which can often make it difficult for me to breathe. This, along with the added pressure of my housing situation was very difficult to cope with.
It is a great feeling to know that there are good people out there. People who are willing to support you, despite knowing nothing about you. It’s amazing and heartwarming, and it’s the thing that keeps me going. I will feel complete joy and inner peace when I find a place that my son and I can call home. This will give us the freedom to do the things we want to do instead of worrying about being left out in the cold.
In the future, I would like to help others in the same way I have been helped. Ideally, once I am settled, I will work in voluntary jobs in the community. I know that giving back in this way would bring me happiness.
