I always say there must be something better for me. When you are in a situation like mine you get a bit doubtful as to whether you should carry on, but I am so glad that I did because it helped me to find Beam.
Since escaping from a domestically abusive relationship I have been living with my family. I applied for council housing, but the borough I was in required you to have lived there for over 5 years. I’d been searching for housing but I kept getting rejected, because of low income or because the properties were taken before I could view them. This constant rejection was very challenging for me.
The biggest challenge I have faced has been being so low; low self esteem, losing everything and trying to build myself back up. It was not easy at all.
Having now found Beam and knowing that people want to support me just makes me feel like, Wow! I believe that this is what God had in store for me to realise that I can overcome my struggles.
What excites me most about working with Beam is believing that helping in this way can bring blessings to someone else’s life or even the donor themselves. So for me if I am helped I believe I can also help others.
In 2 years time I want to be established, having a business and also be able to help others.
Due to previously being in a domestically abusive relationship, this member's identity has been protected.
