Having a vision and being driven by results is what motivates me. The Beam process in itself is a project and I’m excited to see the outcomes at the end of it! I’ve always been good at working with people so formalising those soft skills through training and putting a neat qualification on my CV will feel good.
I became homeless when I found out I was pregnant with my son a few years ago. At the time, I was still living in my family home and attending university. The news of my pregnancy wasn’t received well and very quickly, my relationship with my mum became difficult and I was asked to leave. Despite being scared, I left the house and began living at my sisters place until I gave birth. Once again, I found myself in an overcrowded house without a plan. It was at this time that I approached the council and was placed in temporary accommodation.
Now that my son is 3, I want to go back to work and start fresh. My friend Tenny told me about Beam and I jumped at the opportunity to get trained in an area that will help me get a good job. I’ve had a taster of project management from previous roles and so I know that making a company’s objectives a reality is extremely rewarding.
My goal is to get a good job and be able to support my family without needing to stay in temporary accommodation anymore. I also want my son to know the value of hard work and perseverance so that he doesn’t take the wrong path when he grows up. My experience has taught me to never give up, even if things aren’t stable in your life. No situation is permanent and the sun will always rise the next day.
