I’ve always had people in my life who have inspired me to keep going until I reach my goals and now it’s my turn to motivate others! I know that project management values getting things done as a team and I think I’d be great at driving results through working together.
Everything changed for me a few years ago when I had my daughter. I was living with my parents but the house soon became overcrowded. I presented at the council and they put me in temporary accommodation, where I’ve been for almost a year now. Things were difficult at the beginning as we were moved into a hostel with a shared bathroom. I struggled to cope as my daughter was so young but luckily after a few months I was moved somewhere more suitable for us. Now that some time has passed, I want to start looking at how I can financially support my small family. Being in this position has not dampened my ambition and I want to show people that working your way out of homelessness is possible if you have the right support in place.
Project management is a career that spans many industries. I have an accounting degree that I worked hard for before I became pregnant and so I’m hoping to enter a role where I can use my financial background. Now that my daughter is almost 2, I’ll be eligible for childcare support from the government which will be a huge help to get me back into work. Starting to earn again means that I can begin renting somewhere privately and will give me more choice around how we live. As well the financial independence and new living situation, I’m so excited to learn and challenge myself again!
