I've always wanted to use my passion for football to help others enjoy the game too so coaching is my dream job. To help me get there, I'm looking to start working in a key worker jobs that will allow me to earn my own money and make a positive contribution at the same time.
My journey began when I came to the UK from Uganda as a child. Although I was eligible for citizenship in this country, there were complications and I only ended up getting my citizenship this year. Not having the correct status has held me back from so much. Not being able to work or go to university were among the hardest to deal with.
I became homeless due to a breakdown in relationship between me and my dad. I had to leave the house and rely on friends to give me a place to stay on sofas or wherever they had space. After that, I slept on the streets and it wasn't until the pandemic that I was helped into a hotel. I've now been supported into a flat by St Mungo's which I'm incredibly grateful for.
Once I'm in work I'm looking forward to buying some much needed essentials to make myself more comfortable in my new flat. I'm happy to be getting started and knowing that people out there want to support me, gives me faith in others when I need it the most.
