The past few years have been very difficult, but I’ve had my daughter who has kept me going throughout it all. My mental health was badly affected by the trauma I experienced growing up but having my daughter has encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and improve my mental health to give her everything she needs. I love her so much and I want to give her all the experiences children should have in their childhood!
When my relationship broke down, we were left with nowhere to go and we became homeless. My daughter and I were moved into temporary accommodation, but I have been struggling to pay rent as I can’t work due to childcare being too expensive. I am now accumulating arrears which is the first time I’ve been in debt in my life. Having to choose what bills I’m unable to pay each month in order to feed my daughter is such an incredibly difficult situation.
I am determined to get back to work and provide an excellent future for me and my daughter. Since my daughter has just started school, I am now volunteering every week to try and get the experience I need to get into paid work! I am so excited to start my journey with Beam and to know there are other people out there who are interested in helping me grow is amazing! I can’t wait to be a support worker and care for people every single day like you are caring for me. It honestly feels like I have an additional family who are ready to support me and willing me to be the best version of myself - thank you!
