I've been a security guard in the past so I know what's involved. I like the structure of it and the way that you get to meet new people every day. As I'm a lively person, I've found being out of work really tough. After a while, not having routine to your day becomes repetitive and you start feeling a bit stuck. I want to get out there and be challenged again.
I became homeless after a breakdown in relationship meant that I had nowhere to go. I slept on the street for a while until Street Link found me and connected me with the council. I was then put in temporary accommodation for a few years and have only recently moved on from that into a rented flat. At the moment, money is tight and I know I need to work in order to prevent my housing situation from worsening again.
I already have my door supervisor license but I'd love to get my CCTV qualification too. It'll feel really nice to be learning again. My first pay packet will go straight on the practical things that are causing me stress at the moment like bills, rent and paying off debts. For me, work is an opportunity to build myself up again and contribute to society too. It's the change I need right now.
