I didn't think I would have much trouble finding a job in the UK. I've worked for several aid organisations in conflict zones and have gathered a lot of experience, but when I came to the UK as a refugee I found that securing a stable job was a greater challenge than I expected. I've just been moved by the council into a small flat by myself. It's not much but I know that once I'm standing on my own two feet financially, I'll be able to find a place I can truly call home. It's been a long time since I've had that but I know I can have it again.
My dream is to one day establish my own aid organisation to help women in Yemen set up their own businesses. Being independent is something that matters a lot to me and I want to help other women achieve this as well. For now, though, I want to get my career back on track and find something that will help me develop and be the best I can be. I'd love to study for a Masters degree here in London someday, but for now I just want to get the fundamentals in my life sorted.
