I am a very calm and peaceful person. I really value the simple things in life and thats what makes me happy. I love spending time with family and friends. This is something that I have really missed recently, so I focus on the things that I can control. I wake up every morning with the intention to do something positive and help people when I can.
I was working as a waiter when the pandemic started and was on furlough for a couple of months before losing my job. I stayed with some friends and they supported me for a few months, but the flat was overcrowded so I moved out when lockdown ended. As I didn't have much money or time to research who I would be living with, I took the first place I could rent. I was living with the landlord, who turned out to be be a bad person. I didn't feel safe living there and I eventually had to leave.
After that I was sofa surfing with friends and would sometimes resort to sleeping the in the park when I didn't have anywhere else to go. After 3 months of being homeless, I was support by Lambeth Council in to temporary accommodation.
I am looking forward to training and starting a new role in construction. I enjoy learning new skills and I think that this will be a solid path to help me become more stable in the future.
My future goal is to open my own restaurant. The food would be a fusion of traditional Eritrean flavours and seafood. I make this kind of food for myself at home and I would love to have the opportunity to share it with others. I am raising money for a cooking course to help me on the path to achieve this goal.
